Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, has affirmed his commitment to continue contesting the presidency as long as he remains healthy. Speaking in an interview on the Hausa service of the Voice of America in Abuja, Atiku drew inspiration from Abraham Lincoln’s multiple attempts before winning the US presidency. He emphasized the need for unity within the PDP and alliances with other political groups to secure victory in the 2027 presidential election. Atiku, who will be 81 in 2027, highlighted the importance of collective efforts in the face of the party’s current challenges. His determination to run again underscores his persistence in pursuing his political ambitions. Additionally, there are speculations about Atiku forming a coalition with other parties, as evidenced by his recent meeting with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
