RC Lens have pulled out deal to sign Chuba Akpom, with the striker said to be moving closer to joining Ajax Amsterdam of Netherlands.
According to reports, Lens are on happy with the decision of the striker to travel to Netherlands while still in contact with them.
RC Lens and Sheffield United are said to be in the race for his signature with the French side confident of winning the race.
However a late call from Ajax changed the perspective and the striker has agreed to fly to Netherlands for his medical examination.
The Athletic confirmed the transfer to the Eredivisie club Ajax will go through and Middlesbrough will pocket a fee of £12 million plus £2 million in add-ons.
The 27-year-old has a year left on his contract at the Riverside.
