A man identified as Chimezie Ohaka has died in accident four days to his traditional wedding ceremony. Writing on his Facebook page, Prince Clinton Uba said: “My beloved cousin, i can’t say Goodbye !
“Nwoko, like I call you. Two weeks ago, you called me on phone and told me your were ready for the final outing of your traditional wedding, having paid dowry earlier.
“You had fixed December 28th, 2021 for the traditional wedding ceremony and solicited my presence to Chair the occasion which i gladly accepted.
“On 24th December, you left Lagos and around 10 pm, we lost contact with you. We didn’t border much then, but became apprehensive when on 25th evening, no sign your home and a search party began.
“We traced where you joined vehicle at Oshodi to an accident site around Ijebu Ode. We visited the mortuary as we got a report that 7 people died in a fatal motor accident but couldn’t find you among the dead and none of your belongings were found at FRSC office where luggages were kept safe as some survivors were receiving treatment at a near by hospital.
“We believed you were alive since you were not among the deposited bodies at the mortuary.
“We made a dash to Oshodi police station to make formal entry on 27th December, 2021 and yesterday made a repeat journey to Ijebu Ode. He was actually among the dead 7 in the mortuary at Ijebu Ode, maybe anxiety the first day made the search party not take notice of his corpse
“Your Elder brother, Okwudiri called me yesterday evening – Dede, Ahulam Nwoko. I shouted in excitement, but he was quiet. Okwu, Okwu, ndighi ebe ahuruya ( Where did you see him). Dede, he lowered his voice and i could feel the anguish in his voice, Dede – Nwoko anwuoola. Jesus Christ Lee , i shouted and tears rolled down my chicks !
“I can’t believe your gone – just like that.
You were a perfect definition of humility, respectful and loved by all.
“Exactly today 5 years ago, we buried my immediate Elder brother, a gentle giant and Nigeria Army Officer, Oliver Amaechi Uba. His demise has left a sour taste in my mouth and a deep hole in my heart. While thinking about his death 5 years ago, another sad one came knocking.
What a cruel fate ? Adieu Chimezie Ohaka.”
