The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has urged women to use their strategic position to ensure peace and harmony for a progressive nation.
Prince Madumere said this yesterday while addressing women group under the aegis of Mbieri Nwaotuoke Cultural Union (Women Wing) when they paid him a courtesy call at his country home in Achi-Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
He reminded them of the maxim, which says that charity begins at home, a charge he gave them to ensure that there is peace and unity at their homes, which he said will radiate to the Nation at large.
He also averred that if women as mothers could pursue an agenda towards impacting on the children and their environment, Nigeria will be the most peaceful and united country.
He therefore called on the women of the ancient kingdom of Mbieri to use their God given influences in the families to impact their immediate environment positively. He advised them to ensure that their children are admonished against cultism, armed robbery and other social vices.
He advised them to organise themselves towards weaving out a harmonised collective interest that will help in uplifting Mbieri, Imo State and beyond. He also assured them they will get their rightful dues from Owelle Rochas Okorocha led administration.
In his remark, the former State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party now Chieftain of All Progressives Congress, Chief Marcelenus Nlemigbo called on the women group to continue to support Owelle Rochas Okorocha and be grateful for what they have gained from the government especially in the area of free education, security and infrastructure.
Speaking earlier, the President of the women group, Lady Meg Oparaugo thanked the number two citizen for his humility and for doing them proud by his conduct. He assured him of their support for Governor Okorocha and Rescue Mission Government.
Others who spoke for the women are Mrs. Onumaegbu Celine, Nwakanobi Grace, Lady Njoku Chigozie, Lady Ada Okorie, the Secretary of the women body. They collectively seek government’s intervention in the area of Road, empowerment and recognition.
Giving vote of thanks, Mrs. Echeruo Vicky, while thanking the women for finding time to interacting with their son and brother, he said the women are happy for the way Imo Deputy Governor agreed to receive them even though it short – noticed. She however called on the women not to remain in their comfort zone and believe they will get heaven. She therefore encouraged them join politics and demand their rights.
