Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, have reportedly killed 44 suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters during coordinated offensive operations across Borno State.

The operations also left several suspected terrorists injured, while military personnel destroyed vehicles, motorcycles and improvised explosive device materials linked to the groups.

The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed the development in a statement on Thursday.

Goni said the troops had sustained pressure on terrorist groups through intelligence-led operations across the theatre.

He explained that on October 26, 2026, troops engaged suspected terrorists at different locations in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State following intelligence reports and surveillance observations.

According to him, an assessment of the engagements indicated that 28 suspected terrorists were killed, while six others sustained injuries.

He added that on October 28, the Maritime Component of the operation, operating from the Naval Base Lake Chad in Baga, carried out offensive operations against terrorist targets in the Lake Chad area.

The military spokesperson said preliminary assessments showed that eight suspected terrorists were killed, while 10 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Goni further disclosed that a separate air interdiction mission disrupted a suspected terrorist operation involving the laying of improvised explosive devices.

He said the air operation neutralised eight suspected operatives and destroyed their vehicle, motorcycles and IED materials, preventing them from proceeding with their planned activity.

According to him, the successes reflected the sustained pressure being mounted on terrorist networks through coordinated, intelligence-driven military operations.

He reaffirmed Operation Hadin Kai’s commitment to weakening terrorist capabilities, restricting their freedom of movement and protecting communities across the North-East.

The Theatre Command also urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security in the region.

The latest operation follows another military offensive on Monday, during which troops reportedly killed 16 suspected ISWAP fighters in coordinated air and artillery strikes on three suspected terrorist locations in the Tunbunma area of southern Lake Chad.

The earlier operation was launched following intelligence reports indicating the presence of key terrorist leaders and fighters in the area.
