The Police Service Commission (PSC) has invited seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) for promotion interviews to fill vacant positions of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) in the Nigeria Police Force.
The move is aimed at preventing leadership gaps following the retirement of several senior officers.
The AIGs invited for the screening include Margareth Ochalla, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Ishiaku Mohammed, Zacharia Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman and Umar Shehu Nadada.
Sources at the commission said the officers are scheduled to appear for the promotion interview on Friday at the PSC headquarters.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, Frank Mba, has voluntarily retired after 34 years of service.
Mba, a former Force Public Relations Officer, joined the police in 1992 and served in several key roles, including Commissioner of Police in Ogun State and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos.
His retirement follows the recent exit of former Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. The new police leadership team will work with the current Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
