The Federal Government has formally withdrawn the criminal charge filed against senior advocate, Mike Ozekhome, bringing an end to the case instituted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The charge was discontinued on Tuesday by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) through the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation.
In exercising his statutory powers under Section 108 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), the AGF formally withdrew the case, leading the court to strike out the matter. Consequently, Ozekhome was discharged.
The development effectively brings to a close what had been described by supporters of the senior advocate as an unfounded and frivolous prosecution.
With the withdrawal of the charge, the legal proceedings in F.R.N. v. Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN have now been concluded.
