Former Newswatch Editor-in-Chief Dan Agbese to be buried Feb. 12

Burial arrangements have been announced for Chief Dan Agbese, former Editor-in-Chief of Newswatch magazine and a respected figure in Nigerian journalism.

According to the programme released by the family, activities will commence with a wake-keep on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Chief Agbese’s residence in New Jerusalem, Apa-Agila, Ado Local Government Area of Benue State. The wake will begin at 5:00 pm.

The funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, at St. Rose Venerini Catholic Church, Apa-Agila, Ado LGA. The Mass will start at 10:00 am and is expected to draw colleagues, friends, media professionals, and well-wishers from across the country.

Following the funeral Mass, Chief Agbese will be laid to rest the same day at his residence in New Jerusalem, Apa-Agila.

Chief Dan Agbese was widely regarded as a seasoned journalist and public intellectual whose contributions helped shape investigative journalism and public discourse in Nigeria. His passing has continued to attract tributes from within and outside the media industry.
