The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has dismissed concerns arising from the Federal High Court judgment that nullified the party’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Reacting to the ruling delivered by the Federal High Court in Ibadan, the Turaki-led group said the judgment was no cause for alarm, insisting that it did not invalidate the PDP national convention conducted on November 15 and 16, 2025.

According to the faction, the court merely declined to grant an order of mandamus sought in the suit and did not make any substantive pronouncement questioning the legitimacy of the convention or the National Working Committee (NWC) elected from it.

The group maintained that the convention was valid and conducted in line with the party’s constitution, adding that the interpretation being circulated by opposing interests was misleading and intended to create confusion within the party.

Turaki’s camp disclosed that it has already instructed its legal team to file an appeal against the judgment, expressing confidence that the appellate court would overturn the decision and affirm the outcome of the Ibadan convention.

The faction urged PDP members nationwide to remain calm and focused, assuring them that the leadership issue would be resolved through legal channels in the interest of party unity and stability.

The court ruling has further deepened the leadership tussle within the PDP, with rival factions offering differing interpretations of the judgment as the crisis continues.
