The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced the closure of the Oluremi @65 Education Fund, revealing that a total of ₦25.52 billion was raised in support of education and the construction of the National Library.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Senator Tinubu expressed gratitude to Nigerians, family members, friends, and well-wishers who contributed to the fund, which was launched to commemorate her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025.
She noted that the overwhelming support for the initiative reflects a shared national commitment to education, the preservation of knowledge, and sustainable national development. According to her, the goodwill and unity generated by the fund have been deeply encouraging.
The First Lady disclosed that the donation account for the Oluremi @65 Education Fund would be shut down on December 31, 2025, adding that the project is being supervised by the Minister of Education. She stated that any further support for the National Library project should henceforth be channelled through the Federal Ministry of Education.
“As at today, a total of ₦25,520,708,074.35 has been donated to the Oluremi @65 Education Fund,” the statement said.
Senator Tinubu thanked all contributors for supporting what she described as a worthy national cause and wished Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous 2026.
