Nigeria has confirmed ongoing security cooperation and intelligence collaboration with the United States and other international partners, resulting in precision airstrikes against terrorist targets in the country’s North West.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Government said Nigerian authorities remain actively engaged in structured partnerships aimed at tackling the persistent threat of terrorism and violent extremism. The collaboration, the ministry noted, involves intelligence sharing, strategic coordination and other forms of support carried out in line with international law and mutual respect for national sovereignty.

According to the ministry, the recent airstrikes were conducted as part of these coordinated efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and disrupt their operations within Nigeria.

The government reiterated that all counter-terrorism actions are guided by the need to protect civilian lives, preserve national unity and uphold the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of religion or ethnicity. It stressed that terrorist violence—whether targeted at Christians, Muslims or other communities—remains unacceptable and a direct challenge to Nigeria’s values as well as international peace and security.

The statement added that the Federal Government will continue to work closely with its international partners through established diplomatic and security channels to weaken terrorist networks, disrupt their sources of financing and logistics, and prevent cross-border threats. At the same time, Nigeria is strengthening its own security institutions and intelligence capabilities to ensure long-term stability.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured Nigerians that it will sustain engagement with relevant partners and keep the public informed through official channels.
