President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, religious tolerance, and national unity as Christians across the country celebrate Christmas.
In his 2025 Christmas goodwill message issued on December 24, the President urged citizens to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and His enduring message of love, hope, and salvation, describing Christ as the Prince of Peace whose life continues to inspire harmony and compassion.
President Tinubu extended Christmas greetings to Christians in Nigeria and around the world, while thanking God for the opportunity to serve as leader of the country. He offered prayers for peace in Nigeria, particularly among people of different religious beliefs.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting religious freedom and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians, regardless of faith or ethnicity. He stressed that no citizen should suffer discrimination or violence for professing and practising their religion, noting that love for God and humanity remains a shared value among all major faiths.
Acknowledging the contributions of Christians to national development, Tinubu praised their role in caring for the vulnerable and promoting peace, harmony, and tolerance in communities across the country. He also encouraged Nigerians facing hardship to remain hopeful, assuring them of God’s presence despite ongoing challenges.
The President reiterated that since assuming office in 2023, his government has remained resolute in safeguarding Nigeria’s unity, stability, and security, in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Tinubu further disclosed that he has held engagements with leaders of the country’s major faiths during the year to address concerns about insecurity and religious intolerance, adding that such consultations would be strengthened to promote peaceful coexistence and prevent conflict.
As Nigerians travel during the festive season, the President appealed for patience and discipline on the roads, wishing travellers safe journeys and safe returns.
He concluded by expressing confidence in divine guidance and collective national strength, assuring citizens of continued efforts to build a stronger Nigeria that future generations will be proud of. He wished Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance.
