Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca delivered a surprising post-match reaction after his side’s 2–0 Premier League victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge, describing the period surrounding the game as the “worst 48 hours” since he joined the club.

Goals from Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto secured all three points for Chelsea, lifting the Blues back into fourth place after a difficult run that included defeats to Leeds and Atalanta and a draw with Bournemouth. Despite the positive result, Maresca expressed frustration over what he felt was a lack of support during a challenging week.

Praising his players, Maresca said the team performed admirably despite several difficulties and insisted their commitment was evident. He reiterated that his comments were not directed at Chelsea supporters specifically, stressing that he values the fans and appreciates their backing.

Maresca also singled out Malo Gusto for praise after the defender scored Chelsea’s second goal, highlighting his effort and versatility. Cole Palmer, who marked his return from injury with a goal—his first since September—also earned warm words from the manager.

The Chelsea boss emphasized the importance of the win following recent dropped points and praised the squad’s resilience amid injuries to key players, including Palmer, Moisés Caicedo and Liam Delap. He noted that Palmer’s fitness will be carefully managed to ensure he remains available for the demanding schedule ahead.

Chelsea now turn their attention to a busy end to the year, beginning with a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Cardiff City, followed by Premier League fixtures against Newcastle, Aston Villa and Bournemouth.
