Suspected bandits have invaded Kururawa community in Lakwaya district, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting an elderly farmer, Yakubu Tsohuwa, and shooting his son, Badamasi.

A resident, who spoke anonymously, said the armed men rode in on two motorcycles from neighbouring Katsina State, overpowered the family, and whisked away Tsohuwa. His eldest son sustained a gunshot injury while attempting to stop the attackers and was rushed to hospital.

The community, which borders Malumfashi and Musawa LGAs in Katsina State, has been thrown into fear, with residents appealing for the establishment of a security camp to forestall future attacks.

The Kano State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement at press time.
