The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has confirmed the withdrawal of 11,566 police officers previously assigned to Very Important Personalities (VIPs), following a presidential directive.

Speaking at a meeting with senior police officers in Abuja on Thursday, Egbetokun said the presidential order empowered him to fully enforce the recall without obstruction from any individual or group.

He noted that no VIP is expected to challenge the withdrawal since it was issued directly by the President.

The IGP urged officers to remain professional and committed to national security, emphasizing the need for continuous vigilance and stronger community policing across the country.

He added that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, will intensify efforts to tackle the nation’s security challenges.
