A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and embattled National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu has announced the expulsion of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, and former Deputy National Chairman (South) Chief Bode George.

Others expelled include PDP Board of Trustees Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara, newly sworn-in National Chairman Tanimu Turaki (SAN), Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, and several other senior party figures.

The faction also dissolved the State Executive Committees in Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, Edo, and Ekiti, ordering the formation of caretaker committees and the conduct of fresh congresses.

These decisions come in the aftermath of last Saturday’s contentious PDP national convention in Ibadan, which resulted in the expulsion of Wike and his loyalists from the party.

In a communiqué read by Senator Anyanwu, the faction’s NEC accused the affected leaders of violating Articles 58(1) and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution through alleged anti-party activities, disobedience to court orders, and conduct that brought the party into disrepute. It also approved the commencement of disciplinary action against several other party leaders.

The faction further directed Chief Ali Odefa to refund all salaries and allowances received after his expulsion in December 2024. It also ratified new acting positions within the National Working Committee and approved the Edo State Executive led by Barr. Nosa Ogieva-Okunbor.

Additionally, the NEC instructed the party’s legal team to begin constitutional processes to recover the seats of elected officials who have defected from the PDP, citing Sections 68(1)(g) and 109(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution.

The faction announced plans for a nationwide reconciliation effort ahead of the 2027 elections, alongside a membership audit and revalidation exercise.
