The Lagos State Police Command has launched a forensic investigation into the death of former Ondo governorship candidate, Bamidele Akingboye.
Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered the probe after disturbing images of Akingboye’s body circulated online, showing suspected head injuries. This raised doubts about earlier reports that he died peacefully at his Lagos home in Victoria Garden City last Wednesday.
Detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, supported by crime scene experts, have visited the residence, cordoned off the area, and begun gathering evidence.
Akingboye, who contested the November 2024 Ondo governorship election under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), lost to the incumbent, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC).(NAN)
