Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on all eligible voters across the state to participate actively in the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025.

In a statement released on Friday, the Governor emphasized the significance of the elections, describing the local government as the tier of government closest to the people and critical to delivering essential services and driving grassroots development.

“This election is not just a constitutional process; it is a powerful expression of your voice and your civic responsibility,” Sanwo-Olu stated. “It is your right. I urge every registered voter to go out peacefully tomorrow, cast your vote, and be a part of the democratic process that strengthens our communities and our state.”

The Governor assured residents that adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure a safe and credible election. He revealed that law enforcement agencies would be strategically deployed to polling units and communities to safeguard voters, electoral officials, and election materials.

“I have directed that security agencies be strategically deployed across all polling units and communities,” he said. “Law enforcement officials will be present to protect voters, electoral officials, and election materials.”

Sanwo-Olu also called on political stakeholders, party agents, and candidates to maintain peace, decorum, and respect for the rule of law throughout the process.

“Our youths in particular should shun any form of violence and instead act as ambassadors of peace and democratic responsibility,” he urged.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections that truly reflect the will of the people. He expressed confidence in the preparedness of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to conduct the polls.

“Let us show the world once again that Lagos stands for peace, progress, and participatory governance,” he concluded.
