The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has raised the alarm over what it describes as a “coordinated sabotage campaign” targeting its leadership and ongoing reform efforts.

In a strongly worded statement released by its management, the national oil company accused a syndicate of both “known and faceless actors” of actively spreading misinformation in a bid to derail the transformation of NNPC into a corruption-free, performance-driven energy enterprise.

“These actors—operating from within and outside the organisation—have resorted to planting scandalous and fabricated reports aimed at discrediting the company’s leadership and misleading the public,” the statement said.

NNPC described the move as a desperate attempt by those threatened by reforms, transparency, and accountability to obstruct the sweeping changes being implemented under the current administration.

The company warned of an expected surge in “defamatory content” in the coming weeks, but reassured stakeholders that it remains focused and committed to its transformation agenda.

“NNPC Ltd. remains undeterred. The transformation is underway, and no amount of sabotage will stop it,” the management affirmed.

The company also called on its staff, partners, and patriotic Nigerians to “stay focused, ignore the noise, and not be discouraged,” stressing that its mission to build a transparent and efficient energy institution remains on track.

The statement aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader mandate for institutional reforms across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
