Femi Soneye has officially stepped down from his position as the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), News360 Nigeria reports.
The respected media executive made the announcement through a Facebook post, stating that the decision was driven by the need to spend more time with his family and address personal matters that now demand his attention.
In his message, Soneye expressed gratitude to NNPC Ltd for the opportunity to serve during what he described as a critical period of transformation for the organisation. He noted that it had been a privilege to help shape the company’s public narrative and contribute to its steady progress in Nigeria’s energy sector.
Reflecting on his time in office, he extended appreciation to journalists, colleagues, and the media community for their professionalism and collaboration over the past 20 months. Although stepping away from official duties, Soneye affirmed his commitment as a loyal supporter of NNPC Ltd, promising to remain an ambassador for the company and encouraging journalists to continue with balanced and constructive coverage of its operations.
He wrote:
“I wish to inform you that I have stepped aside from my role as Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd. This decision will allow me to devote more time to my family and attend to personal responsibilities that now require my closer presence.”
