Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has initiated legal action against social media influencer Timothy Gabriel (also known as Tuma) for allegedly spreading defamatory and misleading claims about him and his wife, actress Regina Daniels.
In a statement released by his media team, Nwoko said Gabriel made baseless accusations and openly invited legal action, which they have now accepted.
“No one has the right to make false, vulgar accusations and then hide behind social media or protests to avoid accountability,” the statement read. “Gabriel’s repeated lies, especially concerning issues of paternity and morality, are not only damaging but legally actionable.”
Nwoko emphasized that freedom of expression does not protect defamation or incitement.
“There is no democracy in the world where free speech includes the freedom to defame or incite hatred. The internet is not above the law, and those who attempt to destroy reputations online will be held accountable.”
He added that his legal team, also representing Regina Daniels, is pursuing both criminal and civil charges.
“Mr. Gabriel and his collaborators must be ready to face legal consequences. This matter won’t be settled online but in court, with evidence and the rule of law,” Nwoko stated.
He warned those defending Gabriel under the guise of activism or press freedom that such behavior will not shield them from legal repercussions.
