A yet-to-be-identified man reportedly fell from one of the upper floors of the 26-storey Cocoa House in Ibadan, Oyo State, in the early hours of Monday.
Eyewitnesses described the moment as shocking, with some initially mistaking the falling figure for a large bird. One witness said, “When it landed, I realised it was a human being. I was so stunned I couldn’t even record it.”
Another added, “The victim first struck a roof near the security post before hitting the ground. It was terrifying.”
The circumstances surrounding the fall remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
Mr. Victor Ayetoro, Head of Branding and Communication at Odu’a Investment Company Limited—the managers of Cocoa House—confirmed the incident. He stated that the victim was promptly attended to by emergency responders and taken to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, for urgent medical care.
The company expressed deep concern and pledged full cooperation with authorities during the investigation.
