Popular cleric Jerry Eze has shared perspective on the intersection of faith and medicine in a conversation with Chude Jideonwo.
While acknowledging the importance of medical care, Eze emphasised its limitations and highlighted the transformative power of prayer.
Eze, the convener of popular praying channel, NSPPD, recounted numerous testimonies of people recovering after prayer, even when medical professionals had seemingly exhausted all options.
According to Eze, his stance is not anti-medicine but recognition of the potential for spiritual intervention to complement medical treatment.
He stressed the importance of faith, citing instances where individuals have experienced remarkable recoveries after prayer.
Eze said: “I’ve not said to anyone ‘don’t access medicare. But we also know the limits of medicare.
“If you are one of those who have watched NSPPD well, you will see the consultants come on NSPPD to testify with their patients – ‘I certified this one, that there is no headway in this matter, but we watched this person recover in front of all, and all we saw this one do was put the phone (of the prayers) beside the ear’.
“There are even testimonies that when they come I have to say ‘wait, wait, did you get medical report?’, then I say ‘please, we are going to call the hospital to check’.
“Chude, God is real!”
