The Senate has urged the Federal Government to urgently approve the rehabilitation of deteriorating roads nationwide and called for the inclusion of the North East in the ongoing Super Highway projects. The lawmakers also commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to the N4.2 trillion coastal road projects, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal road.

The Senate’s call for expanded road rehabilitation comes after a motion titled “Federal Government’s Approval of N4.2 Trillion for Construction of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and Other Road Projects Nationwide” was presented by Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje (APC, Gombe Central). Goje expressed concern that despite the substantial budget allocation for road infrastructure, the North East region only received N19 billion, with two projects—Yola-Fufore-Gurin Road (N11.81 billion) and Lamido Road (N7.68 billion)—allocated limited funding.
