Plymouth Argyle pulled off a remarkable FA Cup giant-killing by defeating Premier League leaders Liverpool 1-0 in the fourth round at Home Park.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot made 10 changes to the team that secured a place in the Carabao Cup final, and his decision backfired as Plymouth capitalized on the opportunity. The Championship’s bottom club triumphed with a solitary goal from Ryan Hardie.

The match came to life early in the second half when Plymouth were awarded a penalty after Harvey Elliott’s handball. Hardie made no mistake, slotting the ball into the net to give Plymouth the lead.

Hardie nearly doubled the advantage shortly after, but Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher made a crucial save to deny him.

Liverpool pressed in the final stages of the match, with Plymouth’s goalkeeper Conor Hazard pulling off brilliant saves from Diogo Jota and substitute Darwin Nunez to maintain the lead.

Plymouth’s new manager, Miron Muslic, celebrated the landmark victory as his side advanced to the fifth round.
