Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Governor has announced a significant expansion of the Red Line Rail Service, effective tomorrow. The service will now operate five morning trips and four evening trips daily, a major increase from the previous two-morning trips. This enhancement aims to provide more reliable commuting options for residents traveling between Agbado and Oyingbo.
In a statement, the Governor highlighted the improved efficiency of the service, with a total journey time of just 50 minutes between Agbado and Oyingbo. The service also boasts reduced waiting times, now just two minutes at each station, ensuring quicker, more convenient travel for daily commuters.
“This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to improving mobility across Lagos,” the Governor stated. “The arrival of three new train sets will further boost the Red Line’s capacity, reinforcing its role as a vital part of our integrated transport system.”
The expansion of the Red Line is part of the state’s broader efforts to address transportation challenges and ease congestion on Lagos roads. The Governor emphasized that the service is not just a rail line but a transformative step in reshaping the city’s public transportation system.
“The Red Line isn’t just a train service—it’s a game-changer for commuting in Lagos. We are building a city where connectivity drives economic growth and improves the quality of life for all residents,” the Governor added.
With the new upgrades, Lagosians can look forward to faster, more convenient daily commutes, helping to keep the city moving forward.
“This is Lagos, and we keep moving,” the Governor concluded.
