The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, in the amount of N10 million, with one surety providing an equivalent sum.

In the ruling delivered by Justice Musa Liman on Thursday, the court stipulated that the surety must be a responsible individual with property valued at least equal to the bail amount. The surety is also required to submit the original documents of the property, a passport photograph, and an affidavit of means.

Additionally, the court ordered Sowore to surrender his international passport to the Deputy Registrar. He was given 24 hours to meet the bail conditions or remain in police custody.

Sowore was arraigned by the Police on Wednesday, facing 16 charges related to alleged cybercrime. Among the accusations was his reference to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, as an “illegal IG.”
