Army Reshuffle: New GOCs, PSOs, MNJTF Commander Appointed

In a strategic move to improve operational and administrative efficiency, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, has appointed new General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Corps Commanders, and the Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

Among the new GOCs are Major General OT Olatoye, who has moved from the Nigerian Army School of Infantry to Headquarters 82 Division/Joint Task Force (JTF) South East Operation Udoka (OPUK), and Maj Gen EF Oyinlola, who transitions from the Department of Military Secretary to Headquarters 3 Division as GOC 3 Division/Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).

The appointments also include the confirmation of acting positions for Maj Gen AGL Haruna as GOC 7 Division/Commander Sector 1 JTF North East Operation Hadin Kai, and Maj Gen IA Ajose as GOC 8 Division/Commander Sector 2 JTF North West Operation Fasan Yanma.

In the multinational sphere, Maj Gen GM Mutkut has been redeployed from Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre to Headquarters MNJTF in Njamena as the Force Commander, while Maj Gen GO Adeshina moves to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Director General.

Several senior officers have been appointed to key positions as PSOs at the Army Headquarters, including Maj Gen LA Fejokwu as Chief of Administration (Army), Maj Gen GU Chibuisi as Chief of Civil Military Affairs, and Maj Gen AS Ndalolo as Chief of Training (Army). Additionally, Maj Gen OS Abai has been appointed Chief of Transformation and Innovation, while Maj Gen JH Abdussalam will head the Department of Special Services and Programmes. Maj Gen EI Okoro has been redeployed to the Department of Military Secretary as Military Secretary (Army).

Other significant changes include the appointment of Maj Gen MC Kangye as the Director of Media Operations at Defence Headquarters and various Corps Commanders, such as Maj Gen OC Ajunwa (Commander, Nigerian Army Armour Corps), Maj Gen HT Wesley (Commander, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps), and Maj Gen TT Numbere (Commander, Nigerian Army Engineers).

The reshuffle also sees Maj Gen JO Sokoya appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army Training Centre, Maj Gen UM Alkali as Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria, and Maj Gen FS Etim appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry.

Additionally, Maj Gen AB Mohammed has been moved to Depot Nigerian Army as Commandant, while Maj Gen IE Ekpenyong and Maj Gen AO Adegbite are appointed Commandants of the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering and the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, respectively.

Brig Gen AM Umar will now serve as the Commandant of the Warrant Officers Academy, among other redeployments.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, issued a statement affirming that the newly appointed senior officers have been tasked with revitalizing their roles with dedication and commitment, especially in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, and national security threats. The reshuffling highlights the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining a dynamic leadership structure to address emerging security challenges.
