Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to uphold the trust placed in him by the people, vowing not to betray the confidence of Edo residents.
Okpebholo was officially sworn in on Tuesday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, roughly two months after securing victory in the September 21 governorship election. During his inaugural speech, he said, “Today, you have given me the mandate to lead our great state for the next four years, and I promise not to betray this trust, alongside my Deputy Governor, Rt. Honourable Dennis Idahosa.”
He thanked the people of Edo for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing democracy and prioritizing the welfare of the citizens. Okpebholo stressed his dedication to promoting small businesses and improving the state’s overall well-being.
Addressing some of the state’s key challenges, the governor acknowledged the poor condition of roads and the rising insecurity in Edo. He described the situation as “ugly” but assured residents that his administration would take strong action against criminals while enhancing security to foster a conducive environment for farming and business growth.
“The deplorable state of our roads has made travel across the state increasingly difficult,” Okpebholo said, pledging to prioritize road repairs as part of his government’s broader development agenda.
