In the wake of the devastating petrol tanker explosion in Majia Town, Jigawa State, which resulted in over 90 fatalities and left 50 others critically injured, the Senate has called on security agencies to adopt a more proactive approach during similar incidents nationwide.

During a session to address the tragedy, the Senate held a minute of silence for the victims and urged the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to deliver relief supplies to those affected.

Furthermore, the Senate emphasized the need for the National Orientation Agency and relevant bodies to bolster public awareness campaigns regarding the dangers of fuel scooping during accidents, aiming to prevent future tragedies.
