The family of Pastor Shyngle Wigwe has issued a statement refuting claims of a dispute regarding the estate of the late banking executive Herbert Wigwe. This comes in response to an article titled “Family Dispute Erupts Over Estate of Late Banking Executive Herbert Wigwe,” published on October 13, 2024, which has circulated widely on social and national media.

In the statement, Emeka Wigwe, representing the family, emphasized the importance of accuracy in reporting, stating, “At no point has Pastor Shyngle Wigwe requested 20% of the estate of the late Herbert Wigwe, nor has there been any such request from other family members.” He called the article’s assertions false and misleading, particularly the claim that a demand contradicts Herbert Wigwe’s will.

The family highlighted that accurate information about the estate is publicly available in the Probate Registry, where an affidavit clarifies the relevant details. Emeka Wigwe urged media outlets to conduct thorough fact-checking to prevent the spread of misinformation.

“We are navigating this immense loss and will continue to do so with dignity,” the statement read, affirming the family’s unity during this challenging time.

The family also stressed the importance of remembering Herbert Wigwe for his significant contributions as a visionary banker and entrepreneur, particularly his transformation of Access Bank into a national leader and his commitment to community empowerment through initiatives like The HOW Foundation.

The statement concluded with a request for the publication to correct the inaccuracies and exercise greater diligence in future reporting, reinforcing their desire to focus on healing rather than engaging in public disputes.
