Hezbollah fired more than 100 rockets at Israel early Tuesday, exactly a year after the terror group started attacking the Jewish state a day after the Oct. 7, 2023 massacre.
Israel’s northern city of Haifa — which until this week had mostly escaped attack — suffered the most intense assault Tuesday as a barrage of about 85 rockets was successfully intercepted by air defenses just around noon.
Within half an hour, a second barrage of about 20 missiles targeted the city, the Israeli army said.
Sirens sounded off in the coastal city and surrounding towns during the attack.
Some of the rockets were intercepted and some impacts were identified.
The Israel Defense Force has established a new military zone along the Jewish country’s border with Lebanon.

A woman in her 70s was wounded by shrapnel in the second blast, which also damaged several homes in the Haifa suburbs of Kiryat Yam and Kiryat Motzkin, the Times of Israel reported.

The woman, who was hit in the arm, was listed in light-to-moderate condition after she was struck, medics said.
There were no other reports of injuries.
The attack comes after Hezbollah’s deputy leader Naim Qassem said in a televised address that the terror group’s capabilities remained intact despite the “painful blows” inflicted by Israel in recent weeks.

“You see that our daily accomplishments are great. Hundreds of rockets and dozens of [drones], a great number of [Israeli] settlements and cities have come under rocket fire,” he said. “I would like to reassure you that our capabilities are fine.”
Hezbollah started attacking Israel on Oct. 8, 2023, a day after fellow Iran-backed terror group Hamas stormed the Jewish state and randomly murdered nearly 1,200 people and kidnapped another 250.
Since then, Hezbollah has repeatedly attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border, with the Iran-backed group saying it is doing so in support of Palestinians in Gaza amid the ongoing war.
