The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has announced the suspension of the airport protest originally scheduled for September 18, 2024.

Earlier, aviation unions nationwide had planned a peaceful demonstration on this date to oppose the Federal Government’s deduction of 50 percent from the internally generated revenue (IGR) of various industry agencies.

The protest, intended to take place at airports across the country, was a response to the government’s failure to exempt these agencies from the deductions.

However, in a letter to union members dated Tuesday, NAAPE General Secretary Olayinka Olu Abioye stated that the protest has been postponed due to ongoing discussions by higher authorities regarding the deduction issue. The suspension will remain in effect until the outcome of these discussions is determined and communicated to all members.
