FG approves promotion of 20,867 personnel in immigration, civil defence

The federal government has sanctioned the promotion of 20,867 senior personnel across the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the decision on Friday, September 13. The promotion includes a special elevation for two NCoS officers, four NIS officers, two NSCDC officers, and one FFS officer.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo, represented by Alhaji Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Board of the Services, detailed that 5,329 officers were promoted in the Correctional Service, 5,112 in the Immigration Service, 9,937 in the NSCDC, and 489 in the Federal Fire Service. The promotions span various ranks including Inspector, Assistant Superintendent, Controller, Comptroller, and Commandant.

Additionally, the Minister announced the approval of new training curricula for the Federal Fire Service and a revised Scheme of Service. The government also plans to complete the 2023/24 Federal Fire Service recruitment exercise by the end of the month.
