President Tinubu has approved a N70,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers and pledged to review the national minimum wage law every three years.
The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are currently at the Presidential Villa in Abuja for a scheduled meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, stated: “President Tinubu also promised to find ways to assist the private sector and the sub-nationals in paying the minimum wage.
“President Tinubu announced these decisions at the meeting held with leaders of the TUC and NLC on Thursday in Abuja, marking their second meeting in seven days.”
The labour leaders applauded President Tinubu for the gesture, as he also promised to use his discretionary powers to address the demands of university unions seeking unpaid salaries for the past four months.
