A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state, Mr Kelvin Bello has raised an alarm over age falsification by the opposition APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo in the September 21, election.

He spoke on the sidelines of date discrepancies on Okpebholo’s court Affidavit carrying 1970, with West African Senior School Certificate showing 1972.

Bello in an interactive session with some journalists on Friday, said the differences in the candidate’s age signals the danger of having a wrong person as a candidate and incompetent.

The PDP chieftain asked the APC candidate to explain to Edo people and Nigerians the rationale behind different dates of birth on his SSCE and that of the Affidavit he submitted to INEC.

Bello said the act was a show of desperation and incompetence by the candidate to become governor through illegal ways instead of genuine means.

He called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop parading Okpebholo as its candidate in the forthcoming election.

Bello said, “How comes that Monday Okpebholo is having two dates of birth? Does it mean that his mother gave birth to him twice.?

“The date of birth on his SSCE is different from the one on Affidavit he submitted to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), any sane person should question the discrepancies.

“It is time for any responsible electorate in Edo state to know that APC doesn’t have condidate in the September 21, election. Fielding Okpebholo as a candidate is a show of desperation and incompetent.

“Therefore, I call on the opposition party candidate to tell Edo people and Nigerians his true date of birth, and stop parading himself as a candidate”.
