An official at the Revenue Collection Agency in Edo state has revealed that the PDP gubernatorial candidate for Edo State, Dr Asue Ighodalo has exhibited his love for the downtrodden by asking them to desist from harassing micro, small and medium scale business owners.

According to the source, the guber candidate who was touched by the plight of traders who had their shops locked up advised management of the agency to have a rethink since no economy can grow without the small businesses.

Ighodalo reached out to the relevant agencies and appealed to them to stop locking up or closing down businesses.

He reasoned with the authorities that many businesses are struggling to survive in this slow and difficult economy.

According to him, it is the responsibility of government to support businesses to remain in operation and grow, not to close them down.

His intervention is believed to be the reason why micro, small and medium scale businesses, now enjoy respite from tax agencies.

By this action, most traders especially in the metropolis have promised to vote PDP again in the forthcoming election in September.

Most of the residents in Benin City and the environs promised to support Ighodalo’s candidature because of his care for the downtrodden.

“This is a man who has not yet been elected and already he is showing concern for the downtrodden, that means when he becomes governor, the masses will rejoice.”
