NNPC Retail denies allegations of unethical sales practices, launches probe

NNPC Retail Limited has responded to a viral video circulating on social media platform X, which alleges that a fuel pump attendant at one of its filling stations coerced customers into purchasing lubricants or engine oil as a prerequisite for buying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. The video also claims that this directive came from NNPC Retail Management.

NNPC Ltd. Abuja said NNPC Retail unequivocally denies these allegations, asserting that such practices are entirely false and contradict the company’s Customer Service Charter. According to NNPC Retail, customers at their filling stations are not required to buy any additional products to purchase petrol.

Mr. Huub Stokman, Managing Director of NNPC Retail Ltd, emphasized the company’s commitment to transparency and quality service. “We are dedicated to providing clear, transparent, and quality service to all our customers, guaranteeing that their needs are met without any recourse to unnecessary and unscrupulous conditionalities,” he stated.

NNPC Retail has urged the public to disregard the misinformation and report any similar occurrences to the appropriate authorities. In response to the incident, the company has launched an investigation and assured that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against those responsible.

The company reiterates its commitment to upholding the highest standards of customer service and ensuring that all practices at its filling stations are in line with its established guidelines and ethical standards.
