Afrobeat sensation Davido has promised to protect, respect and connect Chioma Rowland whom he wedded in a lavish event attended by top figures from the entertainment industry and other dignitaries.
He gave the assurance to the parents of Chioma at the wedding took place on Tuesday at Harbour Point in the Victoria Island area of Lagos State, capping years of friendship and generating significant buzz on social media.
About two weeks before the ceremony, Davido confirmed his wedding to Chioma. On Sunday, the 30 BG boss shared their pre-wedding photos, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated events in the entertainment world, tagged #Chivido2024.
The pre-wedding photos sparked excitement on social media, with fans, celebrities, traditional leaders, and politicians congratulating the couple.
#Chivido2024 trended across major social media platforms leading up to the event and reached a peak when Davido and Chioma tied the knot.
Fans and celebrities shared photos and videos from the vibrant event, wishing the newlyweds a happy married life.
Davido’s wedding was a grand affair, attended by dignitaries from various fields.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was spotted at the ceremony, dressed in his signature white attire and beaded crown.
Prominent attendees included former Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Senator Daisy Danjuma of Edo South. The president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, also attended.
Celebrities such as Patoranking and singer Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, graced the occasion, with TV host Ebuka Uchendu serving as the compere.
Chioma’s friendship with Davido dates back several years, but their relationship became official in 2018 when the singer publicly confirmed it in October.
Chioma has appeared in several of Davido’s music videos, despite frequent breakup rumors over the years.
In 2019, Davido proposed to Chioma, and their introduction photos surfaced on social media. Their wedding, initially planned for 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
That same year, rumors of Chioma’s pregnancy circulated but were denied. However, in October, they welcomed a son named Ifeanyi.
Tragically, in November 2022, Ifeanyi died in a home accident shortly after turning three.
In October 2023, Davido and Chioma welcomed twins, and a video of them leaving the hospital with their babies went viral, garnering congratulations from fans and celebrities.
Months later, reports of their wedding emerged, and Davido confirmed the event, solidifying years of friendship with Chioma.
