A 45-year-old Kehinde Olanipekun is on the run after using machete to inflict injuries on his wife, Damilola, who confronted him for allegedly having an affair with his step- daughter.
The incident happened at Idashen community, Owo local government area.
Sources said the 14-year- old step-daughter called her mother, who had travelled, to report that her step-father has been harassing her sexually.
The sources said the girl did not disclose the affair because she was scared of how her mother would react.
Narrating what happened, the mother said she rushed back home after her daughter told her about the affair and confronted her husband.
She said he apologised and admitted that he was wrong.
Damilola stated three days after she confronted her husband about the affair, he attacked her with a machete after sending their children on errand.
According to her: “I asked him why he returned early, he said they hindered him from going to work. He dashed into the bedroom and returned with a cutlass.
“He said that he wanted to go and clear his site but he locked me inside the bedroom and attacked me with his fist. He used the cutlass to slash my skin and every other part of my body. He used a hammer to hit my head.
“Neighbours could not rescue me because the door was locked. I was rushed to the hospital after I managed to open the door.”
Some eye witnesses said the woman was weak and laid helplessly looking almost like a corpse.
They said doctors thought she was brought in dead but realised that she was still breathing.
The woman, who is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Owo, sustained serious injuries inflicted on her during the vicious attack.
They said she was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo but was referred to another hospital due to the high degree of injuries inflicted on her by the fleeing husband.
Ondo Police spokesman, SP Funmilayo Omisanya-Odunlami, who confirmed the incident said the police was still searching for the suspect.
