Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has given an assurance that the prevailing unhindered academic activities in the state owned tertiary institutions will be sustained.
The Governor also promised the provision of adequate academic facilities and basic infrastructure that would facilitate quality education at primary, secondary and tertiary institution levels.
Bello gave the assurance while on an inspection of projects executed by government at the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, over the weekend.
“I will not relent in ensuring that all state owned tertiary institutions continue to run academic calendar devoid of strike action under the present administration in Kogi
“The present administration will also remain committed towards making education system in the state stable and uninterrupted where students would graduate within the the duration of their academic programmes” Bello said.
He expressed satisfaction with all the projects executed in the Polytechnic through Local contractors.
While he maintained that service to the people would not be sacrificed under his administration, paid glowing tributes to the local contractors who he said have made the state proud in the delivery of standard projects.
In his words, ” This is what the State is able to achieve using local contractors”
The Governor commended the students for making the state institutions cult free, urged them to be law abiding and ensure that they come out in flying colours in their academic performance.
Gov. Bello lauded the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo for the good work he is doing, described him as the man of the moment and for standing out tall amongst his equals.
