The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has expressed readiness to partner with Federal University Lokoja (FUL) on agricultural activities.
The collaboration according to the Ministry, is to be actualised through its planned commencement of a Demonstration Farm in the University.
This was disclosed during an interactive session between the Management of Federal University Lokoja and the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi led a delegation of FUL Management and Board Members from the University’s Directorate of Consultancy and Ventures to the meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe.
During the meeting, areas of interventions, support and collaborations between FUL and the Ministry were clearly delineated.
Dr. Umakhihe assured the University Management of immediate implementation of the proposals, adding that the results and benefits arising from this important interaction would start manifesting soon.
It is hoped that this fruitful engagement in terms of Agriculture and Agro-Business will further complement and bring to fruition the vision plan of Professor Akinwumi’s Administration in establishing a Faculty of Agriculture in FUL and boost the Internal Revenue Generation of the University.
