Kogi Poly Matriculates 6,216 Students, Begs JAMB for Computer Based Exam Centre

The Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has matriculated a total number of 6,216 students for the 2021/2022 academic session with a call on the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to restore a Computer Based Test Examination Centre in the institution.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman made the call while speaking at the 29th Matriculation Ceremony held in Lokoja, Thursday.

He said that the call became imperative as the former CBTE Centre approved for the institution ran into a hitch.

The Rector explained that following the alledged action or inaction of a staff of the institution, the CBTE Centre was penalized, adding that the matter is however, being addressed administratively with a view to unraveling the circumstances leading to why the centre ran into the hitch.

The Rector of the Polytechnic also called on the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Prof. Ishaq Oloyede whom he said he has worked closely with to kindly look into the appeal for the approval of a CBTE Centre for the Polytechnic.

Dr. Salisu Ogbo expressed delight that adequate attention was paid to students accommodation as well as security of lives and Property in the institution.

The Rector warned against cultism in the Polytechnic and urged the students to rather embrace the spirit of good character and learning.

According to the Rector”Kogi will continue to have zero tolerance for all forms of social vices such as gun running, examination malpractices, alcoholism, unhealthy social gatherings, cyber crimes, incitements to violence, gangsterism, misuse and destruction of school property, stealing and indecent dressing”

Dr. Salisu assured that while efforts is on to make the learning environment in the institution conducive, the institution expect nothing less in terms of responsible conduct from the matriculating students.

He paid glowing tribute to Gov. Yahaya Bello for his commitment towards the realization of his aspirations for quality education under a conducive teaching and learning environment.

The Rector disclosed that the institution recorded milestone achievements such as establishment of Information and Technology Centre, renovation of hostels and equipped Library amongst others.

He praised Governor Yahaya Bello for the approval of N300m for the fencing of the Itakpe Campus, urged the students to see their matriculation into the Institution as the beginning of their journey to greatness.
