Jubilations and encomiums engulfed the Federal University, Lokoja (FUL), on Tuesday, following harvest of projects commissioning under the leadership of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi.
The University Community was also thrown into joyous mood over the ability of the management of the institution to secure N1BILLION for the construction of its Senate Building.
The Vice-Chancellor who spoke during the commissioning, named the projects inaugurated to include; Printing Press located at the temporary site of the University while the School Plague and Ring Road were located at the permanent site, Felele, Lokoja.
Professor Olayemi Akinwumi said that the commissioning which was performed by the Pro-Chancellor of FUL, Senator Chris Iheanyichukwu Adighije coincided with his Birthday.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the authorities of the University has secured N1BILLION from Tetfund to begin the construction of Senate Building for the institution.
He said the development was part of his administration’s efforts to improve upon the basic infrastructure of the University and boost its statutory responsibility in Providing quality education.
Performing the Commissioning, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, Federal University Lokoja, Senator Chris Adighije described the ongoing infrastructural development in the University as unprecedented.
Senator Adighije commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi for the accelerated growth witnessed in the institution under his Leadership and his zeal to placed the institution on a sound footing.
On the lingering ASUU strike, Senator Adighije sympathised with the students , ASUU members and government, described the unfortunate situation as a process in the nation’s development.
He expressed optimism that very soon the face-off would be a thing of the past, called for patience and understanding from the stakeholders to enable the problem to be solved once and for all.
