Russians shelled a Ukrainian Ministry of Veterans Affairs rehabilitation center in Borodyanka, a village of about 13,000 people 35 miles northwest of Kyiv, according to Ukrainian officials.
“The rehabilitation center of the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs of Ukraine in the village of Borodyanka, Kyiv region, was recently shelled,” Minister for Veterans of Ukraine Yulia Laputina said in a video address on Sunday.
“It is an act of violation of international humanitarian law, an act of violence that will be punished,” she said.
The center was one of several buildings that were deliberately targeted by Russian forces making their way through the village on orders from a commanding officer, Ukrainian outlet Pravda reported. Tanks also reportedly destroyed opened fire on high-rise buildings and other infrastructure.
It was not clear if any civilians were injured. New York Post.
