The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon Wemi Jones, has admonished students to be hardworking, focused and shun all forms of crimes and social vices.

Jones gave the advice when he visted Ajiyolo Community Secondary School, Ajiyolo Ojaji in Dekina LGA, to inspect the ongoing massive rehabilitation and renovation work at the school.

Jones encouraged the students to be hardworking, focused, disciplined, obey their teachers, and do their best to be successful in life.

He advised the students to shun all forms of evil, social vices, and never allowed any politician to use them as thugs or instruments of violence.

”His Excellency, the governor has decided to fix your school and make it a world class. Your laboratory would be equipped as soon as the renovation work is completed,” he said.

The School’s Vice Principal, Mrs Grace Ibilomo, who spoke on behalf of the Principal, Mr Yakubu Sule Oguche, expressed her excitement over the visit of the Commissioner and his team.

She said that the visit would motivate the students to be focused and determined to become whatever they are aspiring to be in life.

The Commissioner and his team thereafter attended the ”1st Chief Lecturer Inaugural Lecture Series” of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, with the theme: ”Global Economic Politics: An Anatomy of China’s Engagement in Nigeria (1971-2021)”, delivered by Dr Ali Maji.

Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner restated the commitment of the Governor to revamping and bring back the glory of education in the state.

He stressed that the governor had kept showing it that education remained the only sustainable legacy that one could leave for generation yet unborn.

He added: ”the governor is even demonstrating it that even this present generation must benefit tremendously from education”.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi, as well as the Director Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS), Dr Ahman Animoku.
