The police in Bayelsa State have arrested one Lucky Diri, a barber, for the alleged killing of a motorcyclist, Emeka Christian Udo.
A statement by the spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Asinim Butswat, said the incident happened on Wednesday at Sagbama town, headquarters of the Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, according to the statement, attacked the victim with a screwdriver over a minor misunderstanding, which led to his death.
The command said: “One Lucky Diri ‘m’ 20 years, a Barber, allegedly stabbed one Emeka Christian Udo ‘m’ 38 years, a motorcycle rider with a screwdriver in his left ribs, over a minor misunderstanding.
“The injured victim was immediately rushed to Sagbama General Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
“The suspect, Lucky Diri, has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department for further interrogation.”
It added that the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, Ben Okolo, had ordered an investigation into the incident with a view to filing charges.
On Tuesday, the police with the support of some youths nabbed three teenage suspects in Sagbama for allegedly attempting to use one 13-year-old Endeley Comfort for ritual.
They were said to have “cut her finger and sprinkle the blood on a mirror for ritual purposes,” after hypnotising her. Daily Independent.
