The Chief Executive Officer of Tazan Foundation, Hon. Saahibfatiu Onimisi Tazan, has been honoured with double awards as an ”Icon of Youth Development”, and ”Award of Achievement”.
The ‘Icon of Youth Development’ was bestowed on him by North Central Youth Parliament (NCYP), while that of ‘Achievement,’ was given by Nigeria Medical Students Association (NIMSA), North Central Region.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Tazan described the recognition given to him as a charge to do more, keep impacting and reaching out to the less privileged, and complementing governments efforts in the areas health and education.
According to him, Tazan Foundation under his leadership has speedily brought transformation to the life’s of the commoners within and outside the shores of the state.
He said the foundation had recorded tremendous achievement in promoting quality education at the grassroots, help in the fight against malaria through public sensitization and provision of malaria protective kits.
Tazan, who doubles as the Director of Foreign Affairs, Integration of National Youth Council of Nigeria, United Arab Emirate (UAE), thanked NCYP and NIMSA north central region for the recognition, stressing that the award belongs to his supportive family and workers.
He added that prior before now, his Foundation was not in the business of accepting awards from groups, disclosing that it became necessary to boost the moral of his staff and to remind them that the world is watching and taken note of the little they are doing.
”My drive to help the needy and provide quality education and health care system for those at the grassroots is inspired by my own humble beginning were my parents and my community had to struggle to give me the best they can.
“God has blessed the work of my hands, and I find it pertinent to by extension ensure that our leaders of tomorrow, our aged parents and those at the poor of the poorest communities is giving social amenities and a sense of purpose and hope for a great future.
“The world we live in today is quite complex and demanding; as government alone cannot catch up with the needs of everyone considering the raising population of the country.
”Hence, the need for well to do individuals and groups to help complement governments efforts,” he said.
He further disclosed that so much was done in the year 2021 but more would be done in 2022 if God speared his life as there were still millions of persons who need their help to survive.
He thanked his family and workers for being the push behind the success achieved so far, adding that God who rewards one in secret will reward them awesomely for their choice to help humanity.
Earlier in his speech, the North Central Regional Coordinator of NIMSA, Elukpo Jeremiah, said it took a painstaking effort for the group to research into various personalities in the state, that are making efforts in the area of leadership, achievement, obedience to rule of law, humanitarian services, commitment to duty to give the award.
