Worried over the alarming rate of children out of school especially in the northern part of Nigeria, Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wemi Jones has called on Stakeholders in the sector to brace up towards finding lasting solution to the problem.
He urged Participants at the on going
2- Day North Central Zonal Meeting on Draft Medium -Term National Development Plan ( MTNDP) holden in Lokoja, to use the gathering in proffering solutions that would help reduce the high incidence of out of school children in the North.
The Commissioner made the appeal while delivering a goodwill message at the 2 Day Zonal Meeting on the Draft Medium -Term National Development plan ( MTNDP) 2021-2025 holden in Lokoja, Kogi State Capital
Jones said if the rate of out School Children can be curtailed, it would help check the insecurity that is currently bedeviling parts of the country, adding that they should devout more time in proffering solutions that would mitigate the high rate of out of school Children.
The Commissioner lamented that out of the seventeen states in the country with the highest number of out of school Children, fourteen of the states are in the North
He expressed optimism that if the issue of out of school Children is addressed, it would to a large extend signal goodbye to insecurity threats across the country.
