President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised to as a matter of urgency, take issues of security with all seriousness to restore peace to every part of the country.
The Anglican Bishop of Ijumu Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Right Reverend Paul Ojo gave the advice while speaking with Newsmen at the 2nd session of the 4th synod of the Diocese held at Ekinrin Adde, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State over the weekend.
Right Reverend Ojo said as a retired Military General with vast experience, issue of insecurity bedeviling the country should have been a thing of the past by now, saying the President must take charged of Nigeria as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
According to the Anglican Bishop, “He’s a retired General, he has the experience both as Military man and General. Nigerians so much trust Mr. President and that was why they voted and reelected him as President.”
“The people that are carrying arms against the government are not Military. If Buhari wants to clear Bokoharam and Bandits, it doesn’t take him a day. May be there are people benefiting from this insecurity. They should leave him to work and dislodge criminals in the country.” He stated.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari must look beyond ethnicity and treat whoever is
found wanting in the web of criminality according to the law.
Right Reverend Paul Ojo maintained the President needs to wake up to his responsibility and make a name for himself by restoring peace to all the Geopolitical Zones of the country.
He pointed out that insecurity has messed the country up and there was need to address the problem headlong.
On the ongoing destruction of Nigeria Police and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Facilities in the South East, the Bishop called for calm and urged those involved to sheath their sword.
According to the Clergyman, Nigeria will not disintegrate, describing the killings of officers and men of the Nigerian Police as uncalled for as they are out to protect lives and property.
Right Reverend Paul Ojo added that the need to reawaken the consciousness of the people to rely on God by praying fervently necesitated the theme of the Synod, ” “Weapon of Our Warfare are Not Canal But Mighty through God.”
